By Associate Professor Willow Sheremata, Area Coordinator, Strategic Management Specialization.

The School is proud to announce the winner of the 2021-2022 John Peace Part-Time Award.  Each year every area is invited to nominate one outstanding part-time faculty member for this award, which is given by the Dean in consultation with Management Committee.

The John Peace Part-Time Faculty Teaching Award was established in honour of John Peace, a part-time instructor at the Schulich School of Business between 1986 and 1996.  John had a small law practice in downtown Toronto, focusing on real estate law, and taught business law and real estate courses at Schulich.

2021-2022 Winner

Congratulations to Adjunct Professor of Strategic Management Wissam Al-Hussaini for winning this year’s John Peace award!

Since Wissam joined Schulich’s faculty in 2018, he has shown himself to be an exemplar colleague who is dedicated to teaching excellence. He has consistently excelled at teaching, no matter what the course or discipline. Wissam also served as the course coordinator for MGMT 4100, Integrative Business Simulation, and INTL 4300, International Business Simulation, where he took it upon himself to revitalize these courses and their delivery. Throughout his tenure, Wissam has exhibited true leadership, improving Schulich’s courses and programs across multiple disciplines. He consistently takes on tasks that exceed the normal duties expected of adjunct faculty, teaching additional courses when asked by program directors, area and course coordinators. In the past year alone, he has taught for the MREI, MMgt, BBA, and MBA programs while also teaching courses in the Strategic Management Area. In these and many other ways, Wissam has shown an intrinsic commitment to excellence and the school as a whole.

As the Strategic Management Area Coordinator Willow Sheremata wrote in her nomination letter, “Wissam demonstrates true organizational citizenship to a degree I have not seen in any other part-time member and most tenure-stream faculty members. He is the first one to take ownership of a problem, the first one to come up with workable solutions to content, delivery, staffing, or scheduling issues, and consistently demonstrates a true commitment to quality in all of his teaching endeavors. His consistently high teaching evaluations are not an accident. They reflect his commitment to teaching quality and a concern for student welfare.”

Congratulations again to Wissam Al-Hussaini for winning this year’s John Peace award.  A truly remarkable accomplishment!
