Event Overview
New and experienced instructors are encouraged to attend the SCTE Teaching Skills Workshop where the enhancement of practical teaching and feedback skills are the focus.
Engage Students Deliver Effective Lectures Provide Reflective Feedback
Each participating instructor will be directly engaged in a customized teaching delivery exercise, in a small-group setting of up to four people, designed to enhance the instructor’s teaching skills through an intensive experiential learning approach.
What to Expect
Each instructor will have 15 minutes to deliver a mini lesson to the small group on any topic of the instructor’s choice. Participating instructors then receive 25 minutes of oral, written, and video feedback from other workshop attendees on each mini-lesson delivered.
Teaching related questions such as learner motivation, facilitating group interactions, enhancing classroom dynamics and addressing challenging learning styles are discussed in detail. The workshop encourages reflection and examination of one’s own teaching practices, where feedback is focused on the learning process rather than lesson content.
Workshops are co-facilitated by Peter Macdonald, SCTE Director, and Lisa Endersby, Educational Developer, Teaching Commons at York.
