Schulich is proud to announce that Marisa Morriello, Adjunct Professor of Accounting and Associate Director of the Master of Accounting (MAcc) Program, has been named the recipient of the 2022-2023 John Peace Part-Time Award.
Linda Thorne, Area Coordinator for the Accounting Area, and Shanker Trivedi, Director of the Master of Accounting Program, jointly wrote a letter nominating Marisa for the award. In their letter, they described her as “an outstanding teacher as well as a wonderful colleague” and “a role model for future accounting professionals.” They also cited her “exceptional leadership and communication skills”, as well as her participation in recruitment efforts aimed at attracting quality students to the Master of Accounting (MAcc) program.
Marisa has taught and coordinated over 10 courses at Schulich, including the capstone integrative case course in the MAcc program that is crucial to our students’ success on the CPA Institute’s Common Final Exam. She has also contributed enormously to curriculum development at Schulich, ensuring that our accounting courses reflect the most current professional requirements and standards.
Marisa has been nominated for teaching awards at Schulich four times over the past ten years and won the Seymour Schulich Teaching Excellence Award in 2020.
The John Peace Part-Time Faculty Teaching Award was established in honour of John Peace, a part-time instructor at the Schulich School of Business between 1986 and 1996 who taught business law and real estate courses at Schulich. Each year, every Area within the School is invited to nominate one outstanding part-time faculty member for this award, which is determined by the Dean in consultation with Management Committee.
Congratulations to Marisa Morriello for winning this year’s John Peace award – a well deserved accomplishment for her numerous contributions to our School over many years.
