  • Students will use this link to complete their evaluation of the course and instructor.
  • Instructors may use this link to view real-time participation and final results.

What you need to know to administer the evaluations/ratings:

ONCE

The administration of ONCE is mandatory
per Schulich Faculty Council policy.

  • Evaluations/TEAs will be conducted in-class during one of the last two sessions each term for both Graduate and Undergraduate programs.
  • Please inform students in advance of the class when evaluations will take place.
  • Instructors must allocate 15-20 minutes for students to complete the Schulich TEA rating and Online Course Evaluations.
  • You may stay in the room but should not engage with students.
  • Use Canvas announcements to remind students about upcoming evaluations.
  • Encourage students to bring a laptop or mobile device to class to facilitate increased participation.
  • You may offer no more than a 1% grade benefit if class participation in the ONCE only process reaches 70%.
  • Students will receive an automated email with the evaluation link.
  • Instructors can monitor participation in real-time on the ONCE website.
  • ONCE results are released on January 15, May 15 and September 15 of each year on the ONCE website.

TEA

Student participation in TEA is voluntary.

**Only course sections with 20 or more students are eligible for the Schulich TEA. Course sections with less than 20 students enrolled will not appear on students’ course lists at time of TEA ratings.

  • The TEAs are annual awards in which students recognize the top ten rated instructors in each program for their contributions to teaching and student learning.
  • The top ten instructors in each program will be recognized. The top two will win the Schulich TEA for each program (Bachelors, Masters).
  • The Seymour Schulich Excellence Awards use the same online platform as ONCE but have a separate questionnaire.
  • Instructors cannot view TEA participation or results.

The TEA questionnaire comprises two questions:

  • Instructor rating based on Seymour Schulich’s vision for these awards.
  • Ethical Clearance to confirm responses are free of inappropriate bias.
  • Each student should evaluate their instructors individually based on personal experience.
  • Self-promotion by an instructor is not permitted.
  • Promotion of a specific instructor by a student is not permitted.
  • Student participation in TEA is voluntary and confidential.

Results from the ONCE and TEA questionnaires are independent of each other.
Neither influences nor impacts the other.
